Welcome To Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN)

Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN) was founded in 2004 with the aim of creating an opportunity for people from around the world to actively contribute to the betterment of Nepal while also immersing themselves in the rich culture and breathtaking landscapes of the country. Our mission is to bring positive and long-lasting changes to marginalized communities through comprehensive, inclusive, and equitable development programs by engaging international volunteers in projects that uplift and support Nepalese society.
Empowering Women

Nepal boasts a culturally diverse and abundant landscape; however, it unfortunately perpetuates entrenched gender biases. Women frequently find themselves confined to subordinate positions, limited to domestic responsibilities, and deprived of educational and employment opportunities.

Child Education

Education serves as the bedrock for the progress of every country, and Nepal is not an exception to this. Nevertheless, the education system in this nation encounters significant challenges that hinder its capacity to offer optimal learning prospects to all its inhabitants.

Disability Assistance

Raising a child with a disability poses unique challenges, including the emotional stress and physical exhaustion that come with being a family caregiver. Whether your child is dealing with developmental or physical difficulties, their disability can have a profound impact on both your lives.

Our Volunteering Programs

Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN) offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities in Nepal. By joining VSN as a volunteer, you have the chance to make a positive impact in various areas including Women Empowerment, Childcare, Teaching English in Buddhist monasteries, assisting individuals with disabilities, and participating in school building construction and renovation projects.

Join us and discover something genuinely gratifying and life-changing.

Our Internship Programs

Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN) provides diverse internship opportunities in Nepal for students aiming to enhance their work experience in their respective fields of study. Through these internships, you will acquire fresh skills and witness various work methodologies, enabling you to gain practical exposure and participate in a valuable cultural exchange.

Combine volunteering with Tour Or Trekking

The geographical and cultural landscape of Nepal, along with the warmth and generosity of its people, cannot be fully described in words. It is a sentiment that goes beyond what the eyes can see and touches the depths of the heart. To make your experience in Nepal even more enriching, why not consider combining a volunteer placement with a visit to its famous tourist destinations?

You can choose from cultural tours, Himalayan treks, and jungle safaris, and truly immerse yourself in everything that Nepal has to offer!

We Give Women and Children a Helping Hand.

Volunteer Society Nepal (VSN) was founded on the belief that we could do more for volunteers, and simultaneously do more for the development of our home-country

We use local and international resources to safeguard the health and well being of Nepali women and children in Nepal

Hospitals and Placement Locations
We collaborate with a general hospital in Kathmandu offering outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and maternity services, where interns can observe consultations and procedures under the supervision of local doctors.

Role and Expectations
Our medical program is designed to give participants meaningful exposure to the local healthcare environment, including opportunities to observe, learn, and, where appropriate, assist under the guidance of local medical professionals. However, depending on your background and with the approval of your supervising doctors, you may also participate in:

Basic patient assessments and taking vitals

Observing ward rounds and outpatient clinics

Supporting community health education and preventive health initiatives

Observing minor procedures

Our aim is to ensure that your experience is both educational and culturally enriching, while maintaining ethical standards and patient safety.

Nikita from the Netherlands celebrating Losar – Tibetan New Year in the Himalayan region of Salleri 🇳🇵

While volunteering in our Teaching Program, she didn’t just contribute to the local school — she became part of the community. Visiting the monastery, offering prayers, sharing smiles with local families, and celebrating alongside the Himalayan community made this experience truly meaningful.

Volunteering is not only about giving.
It is about learning.
It is about cultural exchange.
It is about immersion.

We are delighted to welcome Aurora, Cecilia, Carolina, and Margherita from Italy to Nepal 🇮🇹🇳🇵

This inspiring medical elective group has joined us for two weeks at a local hospital in Kathmandu, where they will gain hands-on exposure to Nepal’s healthcare system while working alongside local doctors and medical staff.

During their placement, they will observe clinical procedures, support patient care, and experience the realities of medicine in a different cultural and resource setting.

Medical electives in Nepal are more than hospital rotations — they are about global health learning, cultural exchange, and stepping outside your comfort zone.
